Psychoeducational Assessment

What is a Psychoeducational Assessment?

Undiagnosed learning disabilities or attentional concerns can have a significant and long-standing impact on the functioning of individuals. Children and adolescents experience frustration and lowered self-esteem as their academic and/or social difficulties negatively impact their achievement levels and social interactions. With the transition to college, university or the working world, adults find that their undiagnosed learning or attentional challenges may limit their academic or vocational options. In addition, the transition to adult life with its range of responsibilities can lead to feelings of being overwhelmed and incompetent.

Our assessments are thorough and comprehensive, providing answers to the questions which have created concern and confusion. Detailed histories, comprehensive testing and the gathering of a range of information from historical and collaborative sources allow the professionals at Addie and Associates to create an individualized report. Equally important are the extensive recommendations and referrals which are an essential component of a comprehensive assessment.

Assessments can lead to enhanced self-knowledge, the ability to access a range of academic and vocational accommodations and support, knowledge of appropriate assistive technologies and referrals to academic, medical and social supports. At Addie and Associates, we have extensive experience with accessing supports through the public and independent school systems, colleges and university and in a range of vocational settings. In addition, we support students in accessing accommodations when writing the International Baccalaureate (IB), the SSATs, SATs, GREs, GMATs, MCATs, LSATs and a wide range of another standardized and professional accreditation testing.
